I just finished my 5th and final essay of the week. Of the semester, (final essay of the semester, the total paper count would be around 10 or 11 I think. )
That's it. Everything is done.

Also, last night I was one of six recipients of a 1000$ scholarship given out by UIBE. The fact that a Chinese University gave money to international students is kind of a big deal, and a huge show of face for the university. Positive relations ensure that the program I'm in will remain here, and remain amazing, for years to come.
What is interesting is that because this is China (Zhe shi Zhongguo) it's not the typical scholarship you'd get in the states. We were handed pins, certificates, and an envelope containing...
10 one hundred dollar bills.

I was so uncomfortable walking around with that.
That is so much money.

Especially in China

Oh China. Wo ai ni.

Anyways I got it for "having an influence on China." Which is crazy. It was mainly cause of the volunteering I've been doing I think, and Dave said, for being, " a well-rounded student." Cool though huh? yeah.

So when I heard about the democratic sweep and good ol' Rum Rums stepping down I was walking gaily in and around a few hundred (thousand?) acres of rice fields in the south of China. Needless to say we were all fairly excited, and therefore may have gotten a few odd looks from the farmers, busy as they were. Not that we don't get odd looks to begin with though. But... now that I've caught up in all the political uproar and agenda of the past 10 or so days, there is one headline that has me more excited than even the fact this is the first time in 12 years that the Democrats have anything but a small taste of political power; that headline is, "Britney Cuts K-Fed Loose."

Britney Spears is getting a divorce.

And after watching a Utube of her surprise appearance on letterman (Don't worry, I watched Bush announce Rums as well.) it is clear to see that she is not only getting a divorce, but she found her gym pass, and she combed her hair. And no, that is still not all.
"In addition to any upcoming court commitments, the soon-to-be single mother-of-two will be keeping busy on the professional front. Spears is readying a musical comeback, with her fifth studio album, Fear Within, due out next year."
So, after all this, bogus marriages, two kids, fat camp and whatnot, she's coming back.

I'm leaving in about 45 minutes for our 10 day trip to the south of China.
All 98 TBC students, plus my Dave, Tarriq, and two other students visiting, plus... well anyways,
point being that at 1:30 over 100 of us are going to pack onto one train, and set off on a 20 hour train ride. 20 hours.
I'm pretty excited.

So leave me some messages and I'll be back online in a week or so.

No, I didn’t have anal sex, don’t worry.

I did smoke a cigarette.

It wasn’t really intentional, Manny asked me to bum one off this Chinese guy, cause it’d be easier for me, what with being a girl and all, and I had to get it lit, because I couldn’t just take it and hand it off, he’d lose so much face.

So I did, just a drag, still though.

It’s weird, since April I’ve had a heinous amount of “firsts;”
first beer, first drunken escapade, first hangover, first bowl, first pipe, (not first high yet) and finally, first cigarette.

Not to mention, first trip to China, or anything like that.

Just a thought... or a few.

Today was my chinese mid-term, it went okay, I think. I did really well on the oral part though.

I have to go teach English, right now basically. I'm quitting after today. I hate it.

Kind of lonely lately, but overwhelmed with studying so I haven't had too much time to think about it.

Watched Sex and the City season 6 last night to avoid studying. I want clothes.

Most all of you were about to receive some dank mooncakes.

But the post office won't allow mooncakes to be mailed.

So, birthday girls, don't expect too much. Karina I think yours especially will just have to wait til Christmas.

Okay so in like 8 hours I will be on a train to Taichan, to a mountain that I'm going to climb, to see the Taoist Temple at the top, where Confucious studied, on his birthday (I mean I will be there on his birthday, I'm not sure if he studied there on his birthday or not. I wouldn't study on my birthday, but I don't study on most other days either. (except for Zhongwen)

Anyways, then we're going to Tsing Dao, yes, Blake, like the beer, where we're going to a beach!! And Tsing Dao has very German architecture, so I will think of my beautiful Korlin Lin, who sadly, my mother said I couldn't visit at Christmas, but I can visit in May!

Okay so i'm back. But I have class in 10 so this will be quick.

I got back on Friday actually but it'a been hectic since then. Actually it's been hectic for about the past 3 weeks, month even. I haven't been in the same place for more than 4 days in 3 weeks. It's crazy.

I just had my first chinese, it's fckin ridiculous, but my teacher is awesome. It's hilarious actually we all just sit there making sounds, it would be hilarious to observe.

A few things:
China is incredible, the trip was amazing I love everyone, Jane is awesome (i had mentioned some reservations about her) the worst person was Baby Joey (aka. Drunk Joey) but we still love him though he's ridiculous.

some negatives
-i spent a night in a chinese hospital, it wasbad, chinese hospitals are shady. it was food poisoning. but really really bad.
still though it was a worthwhile experience, cost me enough tho, i've been spending an assload of money.
-lost my camera in a cab in xian, TWO DAYS before the end of the trip. Lost 4 days worth of pictures. Not too happy about that, I probably shouldn't be allowed cameras anymore.
-was sick another few days, wasn't as bad as the first, and overall i hardly missed any activities at all

some positives
+kabobs are flame, we ate about atrillion,
+now that i was sick i can pretty much eat anything, both because im not scared, and because im a lot more adjusted
+i ate a scorpian, lamb lung, lamb liver, lamb intesting, ox stomach, snake wine (wine with dead snakes in it)
+i bought a legit terracotta warrior from the actual site, made from the actual clay, i also bought some fakes.
i could keep going, but I can't be late.

im auditint like 4 extra classes this week because i want to take everything. I'm going to see what i like best and switch in and out.

Q: So, why did I throw up on the great wall?

A: Because I was hungover.

Q: Why did I get that drunk the night before I knew I was going to the great wall?

A: Because I forgot that boobs get you booze.

So we went out Friday night to the Embassy district and to some bars, and it was So. Fun. I can’t even get over it. The bar was called Nangee. There were so many foreigners, which is just much easier right now as I know no Chinese, and don’t start my language classes for another 3 weeks. It was a blast though, and I spent a total of 6 dollars for cab fare both ways and a number of drinks.
So I only brought 50 quai thinking I didn't want to drink so much because, um, hello, the Great Wall, but then this guy Mike from Albania bought me some Tequila, and I had some shots with some Scotts, and it was a complete blast. But I was completely trashed.

The wall was still amazing though, and just standing there, or sitting, you could tell the significance of it.

Also I was hungover but it was also over 100 F and smoggy as usual.
So it was just a mess.
Or rather, I was just a mess.

More later though I can't be late in China.
